Today on the blog I wanted to share 5 Must Haves to craft the perfect Couples Shower. I think Couples Showers are such a fun idea – I mean, the guys deserve to be a part of the celebration too, right? Gathering the Ladies & Gents in your life to celebrate the coming nuptials is the breath of fresh air that the traditional wedding march to the altar needs. Here are some simple ways to make your Couples Shower unique and memorable.
1. Set the Tone – Invitation & Music
Set the tone for your couples shower with two key elements. First, select the perfect invitation:
For couples shower, I usually suggest keeping it low key when it comes to invites – you don’t want to scare away the guys with a overly feminine invite. My Lux Couples Shower invite is minimalist, easy to purchase and customize and can be printed on White, Kraft or Colored paper. Check it out here.
Second, select the perfect playlist. Enter Spotify – Spotify has fantastic curated playlists based on moods, events, themes, decades…pretty much anything you can think of. Browse and select the playlist that best fits your personalities or create your own playlist then click play and forget about it. Choose their free subscription or opt out of the ads with one of Spotify’s monthly paid subscription options. Trust me, this subscription is one that is well worth the small cost.
2. Craft a Killer Menu
The menu for a couples should be low key and should represent the couple’s favorites. Think passed appetizers or a station style buffet with smaller bites. I personally love a good charcuterie station and could eat it everyday for the rest of my life. For me a charcuterie station is a must and if you feel the same way, check out this link from FTD.com for tips on what to include.
A slider bar is also a fun idea. Do you hail from Chicago, the Big Apple, or the South? Choose unique sliders that reflect you and your partner’s hometowns.
There’s no point in having cool food if you don’t inform your guests about what’s on the menu and why it’s special. I’ve got lots of easy printable menus in my Etsy shop GraceDesignsDIY that could work for you and here are a few of my favorites.

3. Dream up the Perfect Cocktail
The drinks don’t have to be extensive at a couples shower, but they must be unique. Consider offering 1 or 2 signature cocktails that represent you and your honey. Check out my previous post on fun signature cocktails to get some ideas. Compliment your specialty drinks with a couple beer and wine option and don’t forget to include some lemonade, iced tea and sparkling water.

4. Top it off with a Unique Dessert
When it comes to a dessert, ditch the traditional cake or cupcakes and opt for something that shows your personalities more. If throwing a couples shower on a toasty Summer day, consider a frozen treat like Blackberry Lavender Chèvre Ice cream or Fruit Smoothie Bars.

5. Less is More Decor
Couples Showers usually tend to be more casual. When it comes to decor, keep it simple. Everyone loves seeing photos of your journey together as a couple. Choose to display your favorite snaps in a cozy seating nook either indoors or out on a patio. For an outdoor photo display, I love this look that is easy to pull off in any window frame or with a simple wood frame, twine and clothespins. You can DIY this setup or stores like Home Goods also sell these sorts of displays pre-made.
